The Grand Canyon is 227 miles long, one mile deep, with an average width of 10 miles.

In 2004, the total visitors numbered 4,672,911.  The 3 summer months were the busiest with 566,715 visitors in June, 677,633 visitors in July, and 591,170 visitors in August.

 The Grand Canyon’s total area is 1,218,375 acres. 

The Grand Canyon National Park’s total area is 1,904 square miles, most of which are maintained as wilderness.
